He gets "tummy time" every day and is making progress in holding his head up....it's short lived now but gets better every day:
And of course this is how he controls his mom....I completely melt for a baby smile!!
We had our very first play date this past week. My friend Amber has a son, Miles, who is about 10 weeks older than David. It has been wonderful to have a friend with a child so close to David's age and I suspect this was the first of many many play dates with them :-) Of course the boys mostly seemed to look at each other and do their own thing but it was cute to watch and good for the moms:
Although Miles is older than David they are just about the same length...Miles obviously wins in the overall size category :-)
Play dates are exhausting!!!!
David was completely sacked out after play date:
We will update again soon....

Play Times
David is now 7 weeks old and continues to get more and more alert. He has started really enjoying his play mat and it has amazed me to watch im interact with the toys and mirror more and more every day. I can't capture that here but I've posted some pictures of him on the play mat for you:

Growing Boy
I took two pictures during David's "tummy time". One is from about three weeks ago and one is from yesterday...I think his little legs (well actually ALL of him now that I look at it :-)) are filling out but I'll let you be the judge:

And this is from this morning. We are trying to learn to sleep better at night and he did well last night....he seems content this morning too:

Update
David and I are settled in at home now and trying to settle into a routine (trying to get David to sleep at night anyway :-)). He had his one month Dr. appointment earlier this week and he got rave reviews from the Dr. He weighed in at a whopping 10 lbs and 10 oz!! and he was 21 inches long. I guess his eating is going well :-) The other big news is that yesterday HE SMILED AT ME!! I mean it was an actual interactive smile and not just gas....I'd post pictures here but I haven't been able to catch him on camera and anyway I am still hoarding all of the smiles for me (hee-hee). So all in all I'd say David is thriving.
David has this really cute habit of raising his hands with palms out when he stretches which makes it look like he is "blessing" the world....it is really cute!!
Sleepy in his car seat.

Tim continues to do well in Baghdad although I think this second half is harder for him to be away from home (for me too). It has started getting warm there and he's experiencing his first 90+ degree days in Iraq. Please keep him in your prayers!! I send him pictures of David just about every day so he isn't missing too much but we are still counting the days until he comes home!!
I'm posting some random pictures of David for you to enjoy!!
He's smiling!!!!

Tramatic days
It has been a tramatic few days for the new little Shedd family. Tim left for Iraq on Saturday...it was a heart-wrenching goodbye but something we have planned for. Hopefully the next six months will fly by. On the positive side we got to spend the entire day that he left together as a family...happy memories that will sustain us through the separation. These are a few of the pictures from out day together.....

DAVID PATRICK SHEDD was born on 17 March 2009 at 1704. He weighed 7 lbs 2 oz and was 20 inches long. He immediately owned his parents hearts.
Overall the labor and delivery were perfect and mom and baby both did very well throughout.
Daddy immediately learned the finer points of fatherhood and administered the first diaper change....Thanks Daddy!!!!

Beautiful David:
Momma Shedd came for a visit to help the new parents. It was wonderful to have her here and made the transition home easier. She allowed Tim and I to spend time together without suffering the effects of sheer exhaustion. Thank You Momma Shedd!!!!
We Baptized David on 22 March 2009 to have it done while Tim was home. It was a very nice ceremony performed at Sunday Mass at the Air Force Base Chapel. Uncle Stephen and Aunt Jenni, the Godparents, came for the occasion. Thank You!!!!

Bean's Latest Pictures
Bean had his last Ultrasound today. So far he weighs 6 lbs 7 oz (plus or minus a pound...very helpful huh :-)). He/She is doing very well and pulled out all of his little baby tricks for the ultrasound--he kicked the sensor, he moved non-stop, he blinked, and he moved his mouth like a little fish the whole time. It was very cute. The top picture is my favorite--he/she is looking straight on and you can see his little eye. Bean told Tim he'd smile at him...I presume this is the smile :-). The ultrasound showed a little hair but with my heartburn I have my money on TONS of hair!!
